The growers in Tasmania are the largest producers of pharmaceutical alkaloids in the world and have specially bred their opium poppy strain with this in mind. It is rare to acquire the Taz strain as those few outside of Tasmania who have seed usually will not part with it. Flowers light purple with darker purple blotches.
